Call “Life in the Time of Coronavirus”
“Smile at home”
From 10 October to 3 November 2020
The world is experiencing the most media epidemic that humanity has ever known.
A virus, the Coronavirus, has spread rapidly from one part of the globe to the other, revolutionizing in only a few weeks the life of a large part of humanity.
Fear, irony, disorientation, disbelief, anger, fatality, aggression, generosity and many other feelings are moving each one of us and entire populations to take on or follow private and social behaviour that is conveyed very quickly by the official media but above all by social media, which act as a large and very high amplifier in everyone’s mind and emotions.
Photography has always been the visual medium that par excellence recounts moments of private life and great social events with immediacy and power.
Today, technology has made this possibility accessible to everyone and the more than ten thousand photographs that are arriving from every corner of the earth are a testimony of the intuition that make citizens from all over the world protagonists for the first time in history, of a great collective narrative.
The photographic exhibition “#smileathome” was born from the imagination, irony and creativity with which photographers, amateurs and citizens wanted to interpret, through their shots, the desire for a different, cinematic, sometimes surreal reading of this historical event.
A look beyond, able to project itself into a future of elaboration, rebirth and restart for all of us.
The #smileathome ”exhibition, on its itinerant journey, therefore wants to donate a smile that illuminates every face, even if only for a few moments.
